On a typical first Friday, Bandcamp waives its fees so the sale of any item goes entirely to the artist. Today, Bandcamp is doing something similar, donating 100% of the company’s proceeds to MusiCares, a charity that steps in to support the health, safety, and well-being of musicians and which is currently providing a tremendous amount of support to artists impacted by the Palisades and Eaton wildfires.
As you may have noticed, I often link to artists’ Bandcamp pages when making album recommendations. The fee and payout structure is more beneficial on that platform than other mainstream platforms, and many artists and labels also run subscriptions, online communities, and regular listening parties.
